Review:
You don’t have to admit to it, but there's something about this whiny Spaniard's music that is just plain catchy. Everyone will find at least a guilty pleasure on this album (Mine's Escape). A decade after bursting on to the English music scene with the hot n' heavy Bailamos, Enrique has sold millions of records. And what’s even more commendable is that Iglesias has managed to be known, not as Julio Iglesias’ (‘Who?’ ask the teenage girls) offspring, but as the world-famous popstar.
With nineteen hits, this album is certainly warranted. There’s very little filler here. I’d say ‘Maybe’ is the only one that didn’t prove itself on the charts. What you get is basically every track you might have hummed along too when they were climbing the charts on the radio. From the sexy Bailamos to the melancholy Hero, from the vengeful Love To See You Cry to the regretful Tired of Being Sorry.
However, with artists like Enrique, the age factor matters. And too many of his songs haven’t aged well. Let’s start with Rhythm Divine. When was the last time you heard it? And what about Hero and Addicted?
