Enrique Iglesias is the self-titled debut album from pop singer Enrique Iglesias, released in 1995 (see 1995 in music). The album was a big success and topped Latin Charts and was also recorded in Portuguese and Italian. Also won the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album at the Grammy Awards of 1996. | |
The album received a Gold certification in Portugal after five weeks of sales, and worldwide has sold more than 5.000.000 copies. In United States was certifed gold in June 11, 1996 and platinum on November 18, 1996, by the RIAA. | |
Five singles from this album hit the number-one spot in the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart: "Si Tú Te Vas", "Experiencia Religiosa", "Por Amarte", "No Llores Por Mí" and "Trapecista", the most for any Latin album, breaking previous record held by Selena and Jon Secada with four chart toppers. | |
The track "Inventame" was re-recorded in 2000 by his writer Marco Antonio Solís and was included on the album Trozos De Mi Alma. This version peaked at number 36 in the Hot Latin Tracks chart. | |
